New Automated Garbage Collection

New automated garbage collection will begin on May 12, 2008. Automated garbage collection will be similar to the automated recycling program and will help to increase efficiency. By automating collection, current personnel will be able to keep pace with the increased number of residential pickups in the Village.

Your new garbage cart will be delivered to your home in April

The new carts will be tan with a green lid and have either a 65-gallon or a 95-gallon capacity. The new garbage carts are similar to your current recycle carts. You'll be able to tell the difference because RECYCLE CARTS have a BLUE LID and GARBAGE CARTS will have a GREEN LID. Your garbage collection day will not change and there will be no change to your current recycling program.

Garbage should be bagged and placed into the new collection bins. Carts should be placed five feet from any obstructions and on the opposite side of you driveway than your recycling cart. Please face the cart opening towards the street. Please also note that unlimited collection refers to solid waste less than four feet in length and less than 50lbs. Items larger than this will require Bulk Pickup.

Choose from 3 collection options to best suit your household's needs

  • Option 1 Unlimited Collection - $13.50 per month
    This option reflects your current level of collection service. Your 95-gallon garbage collection cart will be collected weekly. You'll have the option to place an unlimited volume of solid waste in addition to what is placed in the 95-gallon garbage collection cart. Though you won't have to, you can purchase a second garbage collection cart for $50 with this option (your first cart is free).
  • Option 2 Automated Collection Plus - $13.00 per month
    Your 65 or 95-gallon collection cart will be collected weekly, with additional unlimited collection from Dec. 15 to Jan. 15 each year, plus two free unlimited collection days per year. With this option, you must schedule the two unlimited collection days by calling the Sanitation Department 48 hours prior to your regularly scheduled collection day. you can also schedule additional unlimited garbage collections for an added cost of $10 each.
  • Option 3 Automated Collection - $12.50 per month
    your 65 or 95-gallon collection cart will be collected weekly. With this option, any unlimited collection days must be scheduled 48 hours prior to your regular collection day for an added cost of $10.
